ReplyDeleteWhen alex wasn't sure if Lao Xu was being nice to either be nice or to get information from him. I have felt like someone isn't really being my friend to just get to know me and hang out but to try to get something of mine or to try to make me left out from my other friends.

ReplyDeleteIn China why don't you get to choose where or what you work as?, for example like Lao Xu he (as Alex said) knows a huge amount about history and the war (Alex even said that he should be his history teacher instead of the one he has now) but he works as a spy and kind of a servant for Eddie.
ReplyDeleteAlex had only brought a couple books to China and finished them as well as he couldn't watch T.V because the channels were all in chinese, except for one show, i made a connection to that for when i went to Egypt i had only brought three books and i finished them and all the channels on T.V were in Arabic or some other language so i couldn't watch much T.V.

When Lao Xu was talking about his father and how he was in the Red Army is reminds me of two things, the first thing is that I remember reading the Tian An Men Square massacre and how people just want a change or want peace and they are apart of brutality for standing up for what they believe in! It makes me sad to think that innocent people died because the government wouldn't listen. My second connection is that my dad wasn't in the army but he worked in the jails in the RCMP for 13 years! When I was little I remember him in his uniform and I didn't understand it then but I understand it now and I'm proud that he helped a lot of people!

@BlackHawk86580 - China does not have freedom of the press because it is a communist country. Communist countries have a government that controls the entire country and what they can do. Freedom of the press is basically being able to freely put things on a newspaper, Canada has freedom of the press, but the government of China has chosen not to allow freedom of the press and runs newspapers sent out by the government.
